Installing and registering Preflight Designer Edition™
The Preflight Designer XTension is installed into your QuarkXPress XTension folder.
A Preflight Designer 1.0.1 folder is installed at the root of your startup disk. This folder contains the Preflight Designer application.
After launching Preflight Designer, you will be requested to serialize and register the software. Please enter the serial number located on the back of the manual. If you do not have a serial number, you can choose to run Preflight Designer in demo mode; demo mode allows full functionality for 30 days.
Please register using one of the built-in electronic registration methods. If you do not have a modem, fax/modem, or printer, you may fill out the registration card in the back of the manual.
Microtek Scanners
Microtek scanners may interfere with the built-in electronic registration process. If you are using a Microtek scanner, please turn it off before attempting to register Preflight Designer Edition. You may turn the scanner back on once the registration process is complete.

Collection Segmenting
If you are compressing the collection of files in Preflight Designer, you can choose to segment your compressed archive into predefined sizes. When you click the Collect button you will notice an additional pop-up menu that displays archive segment sizes.
Printing Options
You now have 2 options for printing:
1. Printing the Job Ticket. When the Job Ticket is the frontmost window and you choose Print from the File Menu you will print only the information found in the job jacket.
2. Printing Job Information. When the Job Jacket is the frontmost window and you choose Print from the File Menu you will print the Job Jacket information.

We released a 1.0.1 update which includes a few new features, such as:
Collection Segmenting

This changes the Consolidated Report to show only the first occurrence of a problem which exists multiple times and can be fixed with one action.
Automatic Profile Analysis
When a Preflight Designer Edition job file is opened in Preflight Pro, it will automatically run all the job information through the default profile, leaving you with an accurate job report without having to reinspect.

General Notes and Compatibility Comments
The 1.5.1 version of Azalea Prepress XTension may interfere with the Preflight Designer XTension. The 1.7 version, now offered by Luminous, addresses this problem. It is available from the www.luminous.com web site, when a copy of Trapwise or Presswise is downloaded.
Preflight Designer reports DCS pictures, created with extra channels by In Software's Platemaker Plug-In, as being in grayscale mode.
